Special Education Advocacy

What we do

HEAR provides free, volunteer advocates to families in Baltimore who have children of any age receiving Special Education services.

Who are we?

HEAR advocates are students from Johns Hopkins who have been trained in the ins and out of the Baltimore Special Education system and the laws and regulations of Special Education.

Who does HEAR serve?

HEAR will provide an advocate to any family in Baltimore city who has a child receiving Special Education in a Baltimore City Public School regardless of age, income, ethnicity or location.

Where is HEAR located?

HEAR is headquartered in the Center for Social Concern at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. Our training sessions occur in classrooms and meeting rooms on campus. Meetings with families are arranged at locations convenient to the family such as local libraries, coffee shops or at their homes.
